fact that our desire to compete had to be put on the “back burner” in order to be home and raise our children. Little did we know that the door would be opened to Raise Champions!!
We engage in teaching kids to become competitive archers, parents to become judges/officials in the sport, and we instructed PE teachers to become archery coaches and unify the way we teach and train archers. We are proud to say that, many of those kids are elite archers, world champions even Olympic medalists.
Robin Hood Archery’s part was to plant the “mustard seed” that would become a big, beautiful tree. As we reduced our participation in the competitive world, we turned our attention to another aspect of this great sport, using archery as a therapeutic alternative.
How did it all start?
Robin Hood Archery started in 1996. At that time, three of our family members were on the Mexican National Team, and we represented Mexico in all international events.
As members of the Mexican National Team, we were required to travel to many countries, and we continued meeting with fellow archers representing their countries as well.
This was before the internet. We were doing well competitively, and many archers wanted to use the equipment that we were using. Once our fellow archers realized we lived in California, it was just a matter of time before we began taking equipment to them as a sort of “favor”.
As time went on, we realized the need to charge for the expense of transporting the equipment, which is considered “overweight cargo” by airlines. In that realization, a light bulb went on… “There is a need here to be met” and at that point we began to register under Robin Hood Archery.
